Like a Nemo to Water

Yes, that's our son. He's doing so well with swimming! We went on Sunday for open swim and again for our class yesterday. Yesterday in class he learned how to blow bubbles in the water and mommy learned how to blow on his nose, because when you do he takes a deep breath (it's actually a pretty neat trick, go try it.) It is how you prepare a baby to "dip" (isn't that word so much more pc that "dunk") into the water. Yes, that's right next week I have to intentionally dip my baby underwater!!! Panic Panic Panic I have this fear that I'll do that and he will forever be scarred and never want to continue swim lessons, we have like 12 more weeks! He's been swimming exactly 3 times and so far LOVES it. I want him to continue to love it. I'm sure most of my feelings are over reactions. I'm sure that he'll be fine, he might not like it - but he'll be fine. I just don't want to turn him into the boy that refuses to take a bath because mommy tried to drowned him once.

That's all.

Oh Jo... You crack me up. I bet it will go great. I tried the blow & dip trick when my kids were little and if it was traumatic for them, they don't remember it now.

I'm still jealous of mommy & me swim class... I wonder if there's one here...who would let me come with my 10 year old.... even though she's already a way better swimmer than me. That would be a sight.

Awesome. That looks like so much fun! I love to swim and I hope the Mister takes to water like his Dad and I. :)

It is so good for them! I had all my kids do the infant aquatic survival and now they all LOVE the water! Good luck with the "dip"!.

I always wondered about that when I would see moms with their babies at the pool! How do you get an infant to hold their breath! Shipped your swap goodies yesterday!!

I'm sure there will be no permanent scarring...if not maybe the swim classes will pay for his therapy later in life :)

I remember swimming lessons with my girls....the all LOVE to swim to this day! Molly will go jump in the pool in MARCH when we first open it up (the water temp is about 58 degrees then) and is still swimming at Halloween.
You're smart to start him in lessons so early, before he has a chance to be scared~
He is so stinkin' cute! I love the pic of the 2 of you in Orange for Stellan~

Aww...too cute. I love all the little splashes. Make me want to get into the water with my little guy. (But not in the bathing suit!)

I am sad to report that if I was to attend a mommy & me swim class, it would be with my own mother. Am I the only person alive who can't swim? All of the older children are taking lessons this summer, maybe I should too.

Love the video. Your son looks so happy in the water. Next week will be okay. He will come out of the "dip" okay. It's me who might not make it.

Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha

So cute! To prep for the dunk...just pretend you're making the Nirvana Album cover pic. But keep the swim trunks on.

That is so great that you are getting him used to the water! Before you know it, he'll be doing laps!

Your kid seems to love being underwater. The new Michael Phelps? LOL. I'm hoping for the best. :)
