It's always such a curiosity of mine as to what my son is thinking as we expose him to this great big world around him. Luckily for us he does not hold back on the facial expressions! He is full of them from a beaming smile to a furrowed brow and the ever famous scowl he inherited from yours truly!
Ace and his dad often explore "nature" together and Ace has been introduced to dirt, grass, leaves, flowers... all sorts of things. Now of course Ace is meticulous in his research of this funny nature stuff and insists on sampling everything with his most trusted tool: his mouth. Call me crazy, a realist, or right on target - but as long as it isn't poisonous, excessive, or a choking hazard, I don't really mind. I am of the school of thought: dirt don't hurt. In fact my husband would go as far as to say it helps! But that's another blog...
Other new things my son is discovering is animals! He's grown up with the two cats and he is almost the same size as them now (I know I have HUGE cats!) Ace shows a great interest in them and chases them around the house. It's great exercise for his eyes and tracking objects! But this weekend Ace got to play with a new species: the dog! Now we don't own one, but Grandpa and Grandma do! His name is Bailey and compared to Ace he is a giant, but the most lovable giant in the world! Just to be safe (more for Bailey's sake than Ace's) dad stayed down and played too! Ace was so excited and still has a long way to go in grasping the concept of gentle! Bailey though was very patient and never really had a good tug from Ace. Even though in his kissing of Baliey it does look like Ace has a death grip on Bailey's ear. All was well.
Ace climbed all over Bailey and of course loved the tail and the ears the most. Ace was so excited and very happy to have this new form of entertainment ;-) It was so fun to just watch him learn what teeth were and that big thing called a tongue. Bailey was so gentle and just laid there and enjoyed the petting and attention. Ace and Bailey are becoming fast friends!

Your son is adorable. I'm so with you...dirt don't hurt! And since boys (I've got two) tend to get dirty...it's a healthy attitude for mamas of boys to have.
I love the pic of your son with the dog.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
it is fun isn't it, my kiddo is 3 now and he has gotten so good w/ our greyhound I think he likes him more than the dog likes him.
my youngest loves her puppies. Your Aiden is soooooo adorable. Such a doll!
By the way! you left me a comment as I was checking back over my post ...and I PROMISE your name was on that list..but somehow in my crazee linking frenzy I not only deleted some of the names on top...but also linked two people to one blog. So.. please come & collect the awards you want, and esp. the "Mom of the Year" award, because you were definitely in mind when choosing the recepients of that one!
That's so cute! I love watching babies play with dogs. When I babysat, I'd always take the kids to see our dogs b/c I knew they'd be gentle.
Your little guy inhereited your scowl, too?! My little monkey gives these mean dirty look and then I realized it was MY dirty look. Geez.
Awwww. Those pictures are so cute.
Oh yeah..A little clean dirt never hurt anybody!! Love the puppy pics. The big dogs are so patient with the little kids. Ours was a true protector when Fashionista (now 9) was a baby.
Dropping by from SITS! Your son is a cutie! My husband has the same theory on kids and dirt. Let them play in a mudhole and eat some mudpies is his thought...lol!
He's SUPER cute! I think it's a "male thing" for them to "attract" all sorts of dirt, etc. and be "attracted" to those things too.
Jo, I wanted to come by and say hi and thanks for stoppin' by my blog for a visit. You have a great blog here and so many really good pictures of your adorable son.
He is just too cute.
What a cute moment! Babies and doggies are a good combination.
Stopping by from SITS.
