Flashback Friday

Happy Birthday, my dear friend! A flashback to 2002 which was the first time in YEARS that I was able to celebrate with you on your official birthday. :) It's certainly still a rare occassion, but I am glad that we are still able to see each other as often as we do. I hope this decade for you is fabulous! Here's a look back at all our fun!

Flashback Friday

This is a baby quilt that I made for my friend Jayme and her pending arrival back in 2008. Her son was born 10 days after Ace. Jayme was very into the red, black, and white color schemes because those are the first colors babies recognize. So that was the inspiration for this quilt.

Flashback Friday

Ace and his father reading the Bible a year ago. Ace still loves to read that Bible and many other books with his dad. I just love this picture :)

Flashback Friday

Ace was almost a solid 11 months old, and we were venturing to a local tot's cafe to play with a whole new aray of toys. He's grown so much since then. He is far from a baby these days. But he still loves to give hugs!

Flashback Friday

I love these girls. Sometimes in the summer it is crazy and nearly impossible for us all to get together - so we took a Sunday morning back in the summer of 2008 and gathered to have a brunch in Jackie's backyard. It was a lot of fun.

Flashback Friday - Then and Now

Then
A year ago yesterday this was Ace and Sabria. Ace was 10.5 months old and Sabria was 13 months old. It's amazing to see where they are now. This picture below was taken yesterday. Ace is 22.5 months old and Sabria is 25 months old. They're growing up so fast.

Flashback Friday

Happy Independence Weekend! This was our celebration last year. Look how festive we were. :) Not sure if we'll be quite as coordinated as we were last year (unless Loving Husband and I wear the same outfits again, hehe.) We had a good time visiting friends and lighting off our own fireworks (well... I watched from a safe distance with the camera.) Here's the post on our adventures.

Flashback Friday

Jess, Jackie, Me, & Shannon

A weekend bachelorette party! Yep four years ago (and less than 3 weeks after moving from So Cal to WA) I flew back to So Cal and headed out for a weekend getaway with the girls to celebrate Jackie's bachelorette party! We had a great day - hung out by the pool (got some sun!), went to dinner, had a lingerie shower, went to a club and enjoyed some booze. :) It was excellent fun!

Flashback Friday

Me, Sheila, Mark, & Shell

June weddings are great - especially when they are for your friends that you've known since you were six (and dated off and on all through high school.) Yes my high school 'sweetheart' got married on June 16th 2007 - and I could not have been happier for him. His bride is his perfect match and they are great together. I was so glad that I was able to be there to celebrate their special day.

Flashback Friday

I used to work in a crazy place. I quit after the crazy turned into madness. But back when it was just 'crazy' it was a lot of fun. My coworker Vanessa and I enjoyed writing down random things that people said that were often most fun out of context, or misspoken phrases, and we would publish them in the office newsletter every month or so. Vanessa and I were also all about boosting the morale of the office and so often had parties themed around holidays: Christmas, Valentine's Day... one of the attorney's I worked for quipped at the Valentine's Day party "What are you guy's doing for Flag Day?" And that is all the motivation that we needed.

We started stocking up on all things flag related. We even got some of the other staff in on it. The night before, after said attorney left his office, we went to work. We even dragged the full size flag from the conference room into his office (along with the state flag, it's only proper.) We altered his desktop background, created a screen saver of flags, put on a streaming loop of patriotic music that was blaring, and highlighted from the last newsletter his forever infamous quote and placed it on his keyboard for when he arrived into work. Oh and we also got his wife in on it who picked out his shirt for the day 'in honor' of this great event. We had a lot of fun. He never made another quip again :)

Flashback Friday

Two years ago was when the first Sex and The City movie came out - and I was 6+ months pregnant. Traveling still was a legal option, but not an ideal one. I wasn't sure (since you obviously have to buy tickets in advanced) whether or not I'd be in a condition to fly anywhere. So my dear friend Carrie, ventured all the way to the NW and waited (along with me of course) OVER a week to see the movie with me. We made an event out of it - we got dressed up in our SATC inspired clothing - which really means, cute clothes with cute shoes and cute accessories and then we went an had ourseleves dinner and of course a cosmo (mine was virgin of course) and then off to the movie we went! It was great because going a week later the chaos has calmed - but the excitement was still just as great in the theater. It was awesome and I was so glad we could share that experience together.

Flashback Friday

LeAnn, Jackie, Shannon & Me

Four years ago this weekend I was at a wedding. Our friends from college Cree and Jessie were getting married! It was a great event - as those wedding tended to be. I miss events with these people! I miss seeing these people (although I do get to see Jackie still somewhat frequently, as she now lives in WA as well.)

Flashback Friday

Exactly 5 years ago today Carrie and I were in San Francisco visiting my Aunt and Uncle on our first stop towards the NW on our road trip! It was a pretty bland trip mostly I-5 and not a lot of cool stuff to look at, we were limited on time and I was anxious to get settled at my in-laws and start studying for the bar exam. However, while in San Fran we went to the infamous Pier 39 and enjoyed some lunch and and site seeing around the area. Coit Tower is what is what is off in the distance in this picture. It was a good visit. Lots of wine was consumed and good times were had. I always enjoy visiting with my Aunt and Uncle!

Flashback Friday

One week and five years ago, I graduated from law school. Has it really been five years!? and that's ALL the dent I've made on those loans?! Yikes! Anywhoo - three years of law school was quite the experience. It was a lot of fun, a lot of work and not a lot of sleep... ok extremely little sleep. However, it was one of the best times in my life. I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess. I really was in my element in law school, writing legal argument papers; although I still hated to be called on the spot - DARN that Socrates! It was a wonderful experience - one that I loved but am not up to repeat again - ever.

Flashback Friday

A year ago tomorrow it was the Saturday before Mother's Day. Ace and his parents went to the park and he loved to swing with his momma. He was a little over 8 months old. Pulling himself up into a standing position, but not quite taking those first steps just yet. He loves the swing and going down the slide with his dad. It was a good afternoon in the park.

Flashback Friday

Me (S), P, A, N

Exactly eleven year ago today, this was me and three of my friends in my freshman dorm room. It was the weekend before finals were going to begin and we were taking a moment to relax and as you can see we went all out. Us four girls were known (to each other) as S.N.A.P. we created this acronym/nickname for each other because we had been accused on our hall of 26 girls of being a click by a select few individuals and so we decided 'click' we didn't have enough people to spell that ;-) so we became SNAP - I still have the key chain with the little block letters spelling it out.

The real question... are we still friends? Well we are all Facebook friends now. N and SAP had a falling out our junior year, after a far too close living quarters with five girls. It was all very passive aggressive on all of our parts. Then P got married and slowly disappeared, after we graduated conversations were sporadic, she came to my wedding (as did A) and I literally did not hear from her until last year when she joined Facebook (five years time gone by.) A and I have stayed the closest. We lived together for three years, even moving into our first apartment together the summer before our senior year. After that A moved out on her own and we remained friends (better friends than roomies!) I ran into N at our 5 year reunion and we got to chatting again and through Facebook and blogging we've reconnected So are we still friends? We don't plan get togethers or send each other Christmas presents, but we do keep in touch and stay up to date with what is going on in each other's lives. And I certainly would not trade any of the memories we have from our freshman and sophomore year shenanigans. These girls truly made my college experience what it was: Amazing!

Flashback Friday

Four years ago Carrie moved from one place to another over her birthday weekend and I drove from So Cal to help her. I also bought and paid for her birthday present! Yep for her birthday, I got Carrie her tattoo! :) I had mine for three years at this point and she had been wanting the one she got for nearly as long, so after lots of moving and all sorts of other weekend fun - she got her tattoo! Yep I'm contribuiting to the delinquency of my friends. :) We had a great time even though we were WORN OUT! So in honor of a new decade that is rapidly approaching: Happy Birthday, Carrie! (a tad early)

Flashback Friday

Last year on this day, Ace was 7.5 months old. He had just two days prior had his first swimming lesson, he had been standing for a few weeks at this point, a few weeks earlier he signed his first word. He was well on his way! He loved this toy (in fact he still plays with it from time to time.) However, it's legs were removed a few short months after this picture was taken when he started to use it to climb onto it. He was a busy boy then - and he's just as busy now. :)
