Ten on Ten - March

My Saturday started out yummy, involved a lot of cleaning, and ended on a heartwarming note when a friend spontaneously "answered my wish" for sushi.   It really made my week - which had been pretty bleak.  I've been feeling a bit undervalued and cast aside and so that nod of appreciation and kindness really made not only my day, but honestly my whole week.  It's been rough between loneliness, sickness, lack of socialization.    I'm counting down the days... weeks...

8:00: We had been awake for an hour but it took about an hour to get going.
This is my breakfast: broiled grapefuit (a favored pin floating around Pinterest)

9:00:  Skype time with Grammie.  She loves to have the computer on  her lap.

10:00:  Ace did the Mickey puzzle twice.  First the 'normal' way and the second time upside down.

11:00:  Time to sort some laundry. A favorite activity of both kids! No, seriously.

12:00: Time for a little LeapFrog Tag Pen action.  Mae is quite good at using hers.

1:00:  Lunch and Toy Story.  Both kids focused. Ace mildly annoyed Sister is sitting on him.

2:00:  Organizing the closet under the stairs finally (yes this is organized)

3:00:  Naptime = Time for mom to decorate a little!

4:00:  A random act of kindness after I posted online that I was craving* California Rolls.  A friend brought them to me!

5:00:  Before dinner Ace asked to work on more sign language words.  We chose 'read' and 'bookshelf' to learn.
Another fun month with 10 on 10!  Stop by A Bit of Sunshine to see others and their Saturdays!

* This use of craving in NO way implies any even REMOTE hint
that I am pregnant, desire to be pregnant, or plan to be in the future.
But it was indeed a craving.

A Clean House

This weekend was extremely productive, the husband was off drilling so it was just me and the boy - and I was motivated. Our house was nothing short of a pit! Seriously - almost every pot and pan in the kitchen was dirty, along with most of the dishes (and we have a lot!) - the playroom had been destroyed, remember? The laundry was threatening to swallow our newly remodeled bathroom. Our bedroom had not been vacuumed in I don't want to think how long ago... and the living room was still in Christmas aftermath looking similar to a Who-Home that the Grinch had pilfered. It was a mess.

So that is what I did this weekend. I cleaned, I laundered, I moved furniture, I scrubbed pots and pans! I did not however do anything with the three bathrooms and our office was not even touched except to toss in things that 'belong in the office' :) So while I cleaned all weekend and while 90% of the house is clean - I'm still not complete, but I was certainly done!

A breakdown in bullet points!
  • 12 loads of laundry washed, dried, and put away!
  • 3 dishwasher loads
  • 1 hour of washing pots and pans, etc.
  • Vacuumed every room in the house (except the office)
  • Rearranged the living room to the non-Christmas placement
  • Unearthed the dining room table from a sea of nonsense
  • Organized the playroom
  • Organized the linen closet
  • Emptied the PackNPlay and took it down
  • Put up some additional decor in Ace's room
  • Created a reading nook in our bedroom (where the packNplay used to be)
  • Got all the Christmas stuff put away.
Whew! I'm beat.

Laundry Day!

Ok before you judge... please note that all clothing, sheets, towels, etc.. are all clean - I just HATE to fold laundry, remember this post? So since we have a relatively spacious laundry room and an active mobile 8 month old... and I already have the predisposition to HATE folding laundry... the following occurs.

Yes, I know it's T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E! But to be honest, I know that it will happen again in a few weeks and we'll once again wonder know exactly where all our clothes are... in front of the dryer. :-) So since yesterday was a very rainy day and with the swine flu being all around us, I didn't want to take Little Man out to museums, etc.. and at the mall I have no impulse control for a "good deal" I decided it was a good day to tackle the monster in the laundry room. I locked the cats downstairs and got to work with my little helper. As you can see he had a lot of fun... um helping.
He helped me spread out the sheet for easier folding, he pushed and condensed piles for me. He flattened piles that were nearing their maximum heights. He sampled (and pulled out) the stings. Very helpful!

We managed to get all folded... and refolded and put away by the end of the day. Also by the end of the day, I had two more piles waiting to be folded. Siiigh... it will never end.

Tackle it Tuesday - Premiere Edition

Tackle It Tuesday Meme
What a wonderful idea! Something to blog about and still be productive with cemented proof stored into the blogging world for all to see that us mommys don't just sit at home eating bon bons and watching soap operas. Ha!

Today I've decided to tackle a laundry pile. Granted this is by far not the only laundry pile in the house but it is one of the clean piles! It also is possible that some of this clean pile was merely located to another clean pile, but I assure you that whatever was relocated is certainly closer to its final destination that it previously was! :)

Folding laundry is one of my least favorite activities as far as housework goes. But in the name of blogging I am game! So upstairs Ace and I went to tackle a pile of laundry. Ace's crib often is a dumping ground for clean clothes, as it isn't his bed just yet. The cats avoid it (99% of the time) and thus its a safe place. But it needed to be done!
Check out what other people are tackling and tell us what you are tackling over at 5 Minutes for Moms.
